The water bottle holder here is right in front of you, less sightly and unnecessarily, whereas the 213 has two of them, both within easy reach right under the seat. Also, the magazine/book holder is more substantial on the 213. The seat and programming are comparable. But the 213 has also been less expensive when on sale, so is on balance a better option. Schwinn 213 Recumbent Exercise Bike Features, Review and Rating Only weighs 108 pounds - Light! Adjustable fan to keep you cool during workouts Bio-Fit pedals for comfort Bottle holders located under seat for easy access 16 levels of resistance Price at time of print: $449.00 Consumer Review Best Buy from Consumer Reports and it is! We purchased this locally a few weeks ago. My husband did the actual assembly, and except for one part where it took my fresh eyes to figure out a minor thing he had missed, it went pretty well. Bike started immediately. It's pretty comfortable to ride, quiet, programs are easy to understand (I'm pretty low end at this point, but will build up in time.) Normally I like to walk, but in the cold and wet of Seattle winters, I need something else. And I am short (5'3") and don't want to stress my back or knees more than necessary. This bike is 1/3 the price of any half-way decent treadmill or elliptical, takes up less space, and is adjustable to fit either me or my husband (he's 6'3"!) It takes a bit to get used to, if you are not a bike rider (I'm not!) but all-in-all I think you are getting an excellent machine for the money, and it IS a Consumer Reports Best Buy, one of the reasons we chose to purchase this. I like the selection of programs and that you can also just get on it and go, or even set your own program. It is pretty quiet, a plus because I like to watch tv while using the bike, less guilt by doing something useful while in front of the idiot box! if you are looking for something that will work, give you some variety, and don't want to spend the much larger amounts for a treadmill or elliptical, this is a very good product to invest your money and time in. Assembly seemed very straight foward so I went ahead and put it together. All the pieces were there and it took me no more than 30 minutes by myself. So although there were no printed directions included (which I'm sure was a fluke) the bike was quite easy to put together. I'm not sure why some of the other reviewers had problems with assembly. Maybe the printed assembly instructions make it more confusing than not having any instructions? I really like this bike so far. It's quiet and comfortable. Good design, it's not a monstrosity and I love the low profile of the moniter. I can exercise while watching tv, which was my plan. I think it's a great buy for a basic exercise bike. Love my bike I love this bike. It was hard to put together. It says you need all these pieces, but you really don't. After 4 hours and a lot of frustration I got it together. It definitely needs a better manual for putting it together. I love the bike now that it's together. And you do need two people to assemble it. Getting the seat on is very hard by yourself. I had to prop it up on a pillow. |
| Recumbent Exercise Bike Reviews : What to Look For in a Stationary Bike 1.) It should have an easily adjustable seat for easy leg length adjustment. Upright exercise bikes should have good leg length control for joint safety and comfort. 2.) Look for a quality console that will display your heart rate, miles cycled, pulse rate and calories burned. 3.) Noise control. The best recumbent bikes will have a good noise control system and should not be too distracting. 4.) Tension control. Quality bikes will have an easily controlled tension setting for resistance workouts. 5.) Is it easily stored? Brand name is important also. The cheaper models and brands will not provide you with the same versatility and quality as the better models. The bikes we review are bikes we feel are the highest quality and best consumer value, we do need to tell you we get compensated for referrals that end up in sales, but that does not change our opinion on which are the best ones. |
